Seasonal ideas

It's the BER Months!

We are officially into the autumn, and we wont lie, we aren't mad about it.

Gorgeous autumnal colours, the cooler fresher air, those autumnal knits and cosy boots are at the ready - not forgetting pumpkin spiced everything.

With a whole new season, comes a whole new set of seasonal activities, ideas and menus - so without further ado, we will share all things autumn here and around Tamworth to give you some seasonal inspiration.

Castle Grounds and Playpark

Crunching through the autumn leaves in cosy clothes is a must. Feeling that cool wind on your face is good for the soul.

We are super proud of the amazing inclusive park and it is a great way to enjoy the outdoors and help your little ones to burn off some steam. Doesn’t require you to pull out your purse either!

Within the Castle Grounds also lies the Planet Walk – another fun way to get out and about educationally.

There is also the skate park and tennis courts. You can hire bikes from David Owen’s Cycles for a small charge or bring your own balance bikes for little ones to enjoy this open space.

There are plenty of riverside and canal sidewalks that link from the Castle Grounds, out to Fazely and along the Dudley Canal path, and you can’t beat a summer evening walk.

Autumn Sets The Stage

Tamworth Assembly Rooms has a brilliant line-up of tribute bands, shows for children and everything in between.

Their epic line-up isn’t season dependant – there is something amazing on all year round for every taste and budget.

We strongly recommend taking a look at ‘What’s On’ so you can see for yourself. Tamworth Assembly Rooms

Get in there early to secure your spot for the Christmas line-up!

Tamworth Castle

For a great and affordable family day out, why not come and immerse yourself in its history? From Historic Augmented Reality Trails, a Battle and Tribute Exhibition featuring items from the Staffordshire Hoard, and many periodic rooms for you to travel back in time and experience life during that era, we guarantee there is something for everyone to enjoy. Book your visit here!

This time of year we believe the castle comes into its own. It's spooky season, so where better to come than a haunted castle?

Christmas by Candlelight is also back this year - it sells out every year so be quick to secure your place for some true festive magic.

Santa never misses a chance to stop at Tamworth Castle, so for the 7th & 8th and 14 & 15th December, bring yourself and little ones to meet the big man himself in this brilliant festive setting.

Ding, Dang, DINE!

Our hearts are calling for hearty soups, stews and casseroles, not to mention the Halloween, Bonfire and Christmas foods that are about to hit our taste buds too!

Inspiration on where to eat can be found on our FREE Food and Drinks Trails app.

We have produced a map which can be downloaded here. It is also available as a printed pocket-sized map which you can collect from the Tamworth Information Centre, (inside Tamworth Assembly Rooms) Tamworth Castle and at some of the trail locations. There's also a FREE smartphone app version too. Just download the 'Tamworth AR Trails' app from your app store.

Search for 'Tamworth AR Trails' in the Google Play or Apple app store (whichever you use). Or click on one of the following links if you are currently on your device: direct link to app on Google Play storedirect link to app on Apple app store. Then install the app onto your device (make sure to do this over a secure Wifi connection for a fast download)

Get Into Nature

You can’t really go wrong when you head out in nature. Just be prepared. As the saying goes, 'It's not bad weather, it's bad clothing'. With that said, be sure to wrap up warm and keep dry whilst you explore the great autumnal outdoors.

We are a tad spoilt in Tamworth for some seriously pretty nature spot – we just want to keep them that way. So we kindly ask you take all litter home with you to keep these precious spaces safe for our plants, wilflife and animals, but also pleasant for other visitors too.

With 14 nature spots to choose from, there is plenty of options for a breath of fresh air to fill the last few weeks of summer.

Don’t overlook this beautiful space in the heart of Tamworth. Complete with a nature tree walk, great views across the town, as well as a little hot psot for train spotters – this park is ideal for people with young children too as it has a great play area for you to enjoy.

Shops are nearby for any essential park picnic supplies, and we guarantee a good few hours of summer weather filled fun at this little hot spot.
