Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra, Russell Watson and The Overtones headed for Castle Grounds this summer
Get your blankets and picnics at the ready as The Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra will be performing in the picturesque Castle Grounds for a special summer evening concert alongside special guests Russell Watson and The Overtones.
The open-air concert will take place on Saturday, July 23, kick-starting a three-week summer festival of entertainment in the Castle Grounds.
Audiences are invited to join the renowned Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra for a rousing celebration of Music from the Movies.
The Orchestra will be supported by one of the world’s best known classical artists, Russell Watson, and number one vocal harmony group, The Overtones, who will each perform a set of their own music before the orchestra takes to the stage.
Music from the Movies
From the instantly recognisable themes of Raiders of the Lost Ark and Harry Potter to the magnificent dinosaurs as depicted in John Williams’ Jurassic Park, there’s no better way to experience the music that has defined many of the most powerful moments in cinema.
Indulge in the grounds of Tamworth Castle to the sounds of Chariots of Fire and The Great Escape, soar across the skies with ET’s Flying Theme and gallop into the sunset with The Magnificent Seven, all with the grandeur of a full orchestra.
The Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra (RPCO) is a dynamic and versatile ensemble which incorporates performances of a wide range of styles and genres across the UK and around the world. The orchestra aims to reach as wide an audience as possible and is unafraid to explore new orchestral experiences.
Classical singer Russell Watson has released 10 studio albums, each receiving more acclaim that the last. His debut album ‘The Voice’ held the number one spot in the UK charts for a world record 52 weeks.
At the same time, he also held the number one spot in the USA, making him the first British male to hold the accolade of a simultaneous transatlantic number one. He’s won several awards, including four Classical Brits.
He’s performed at huge televised events, including the opening ceremony of the 2002 Commonwealth Games, and has collaborated with music legends including Meatloaf, Lionel Richie, Paul McCartney and Luciano Pavarotti.
The Overtones
For the last decade, The Overtones have been a household name appearing on countless television and radio shows across the UK and Europe including Dancing On Ice, This Morning, BBC Breakfast, ITV’s Lorraine, and Radio 2 to name a few.
The No1 Vocal Harmony Group have racked up multi-platinum record sales, released six studio albums and sold out 11 national tours – firmly establishing them as ‘One of the UK’s most popular and prolific live acts’.
They have headlined many of the most prestigious venues including The London Palladium and The Royal Albert Hall, achieving standout performances at The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee at Buckingham Palace and singing to over one million people at the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin.
