Drama, live music and much more is coming to Tamworth Assembly Rooms this March
Spring is just around the corner and Tamworth Assembly Rooms have a line-up for you to enjoy in their fabulous theatre, including new acts, live music, drama and iconic stars.
March kicks off with comedy from Scummy Mummies, music from Soul Train, Jacqui Dankworth: The Jazz Sirens, Tenors Un Limited and Dark Side of the Wall; before a brand-new drama and thriller, Revenge, on March 17 and 18; followed by Pasadena Roof Orchestra, Wayne Sleep and the Best of Take That at the end of the month.
Revenge is a thriller full of twists and turns, directed by Louise Jameson, who has starred in a variety of television shows including EastEnders, Doc Martin, Doctor Who and Bergerac. The story describes a fictional MP, Bill Crayshaw, who leads a charmed life, hailed in the corridors of Parliament, lauded in business, and loved at home. That is until he returns from a business trip to find his party agent has been killed in a terrible, tragic accident – or was it?
Mary Stewart, a jealous journalist, isn’t so sure and arrives at his door asking some awkward questions – in reality, is his success founded on murder, corruption and double-dealing?
As the tension mounts and suspense increases, shots ring out and the initial game of cat and mouse turns into a deadly battle, twisting and turning between truth and lies, to reach a thrilling climax that will keep audiences guessing until the final curtain.
Tickets are priced at £19.50 and £20.50. Doors open at 6.30pm, with the show starting at 7.30pm.
On March 24, the Assembly Rooms are proud to present a one-of-a-kind band as part of their national UK tour. Pasadena Roof Orchestra have an unparalleled reputation across the UK, Europe and beyond. For more than 50 years the orchestra have been re-creating the sounds of a golden era of music from the 1920s and 1930s to widespread acclaim.
Enjoy beautifully arranged songs from Irving Berlin, Ray Noble, Cole Porter and their contemporaries and re-live the electrifying hot jazz from Fletcher Henderson and Duke Ellington.
Presenting the show, and putting on the top hat and tails, is the suave singer and band leader Duncan Galloway. So pack up your troubles, come on get happy, and experience an evening of superlative live music, with more than a dash of wit and humour.
Tickets for this evening of rare musical entertainment are priced at £23.50. Doors open at 6.30pm, with the show starting at 7.30pm.
March will finish in total style with a brand-new show on March 30, An Audience with Wayne Sleep, which invites theatre audiences to join him as he looks back over a glittering career spanning five decades, with a little bit of dance and the unique opportunity of a Q&A in the second half of the show.
Dame Ninette De Valois - the founder of the Royal Ballet - described Wayne as 'the greatest virtuoso dancer the Royal Ballet has ever produced'. Using his own rare film footage and photos, Wayne will describe how he became a Principal Dancer at the Royal Ballet with numerous roles specially created for him, before moving on to starring roles in the West End, founding his own dance company and touring the world with his own show.
Discussing the present, Wayne will cover his recent appearances in celebrity reality shows and will talk about his long-standing association with the Royal Family, including his relationship with Princess Margaret and his close personal friendship with Diana, Princess of Wales.
Finally the evening with Wayne wouldn’t be complete without a dance step or two and once again the audience will not be disappointed.
Tickets are priced at £22.50 and £20.50. Doors open at 6pm. Show starts at 7.30pm.
